Nick Woltemade set for Juventus move as Jonathan David heads to Atletico de Madrid

German striker Nick Woltemade has arrived in Italy to undergo a medical with Juventus as the club works to complete his move from Newcastle United before the summer transfer window closes.

Juventus have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign Woltemade on a season-long loan, according to several reports. The deal is expected to be formally completed in the coming hours, with the summer transfer window due to close at the end of Tuesday.

Woltemade travelled to Turin for the final stages of the proposed transfer. Juventus must complete the medical and the remaining formalities before the move can be confirmed.

The 23-year-old forward was an unused starter? NoWoltemade came off the bench in Newcastle United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham. His appearance in that match came shortly before his expected departure from the Premier League club.

At the same time, Canada international Jonathan David has arrived in Spain to prepare for a move to Atletico de Madrid on loan.

David’s proposed agreement will include an option for Atletico de Madrid to buy him for €25m. However, that clause will not be compulsory, meaning the Spanish club will be able to decide whether to make the transfer permanent in June 2027.

Juventus are expected to cover a significant portion of the Canadian striker’s wages during his loan spell, according to reports.

David joined Juventus at the start of last season after leaving Lille on a free transfer. Since arriving in Turin, he has made 47 appearances for the Italian club, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.

He was involved in Juventus’ 1-0 victory over Parma in Serie A on Saturday. David started the match and was substituted in the 57th minute, before Juventus went on to score twice.

His departure would come after a season in which he remained part of the Juventus squad for the opening stages of the campaign, while his move to Atletico de Madrid would give him the opportunity to continue his career in Spain.

Both transfers are being negotiated during the final hours of the summer window. Woltemade’s move to Juventus is dependent on the successful completion of his medical and the official paperwork, while David’s switch to Atletico de Madrid is structured as a loan with a non-obligatory purchase option.

The deals would see Juventus bring in Woltemade from Newcastle United while allowing David to leave temporarily, with the Italian club continuing to contribute towards the forward’s salary.
