Abdel Sattar Sabry appointed head coach of Egypt’s 2010-born national team

The Egyptian Football Association has approved Abdel Sattar Sabry as head coach of Egypt’s national team for players born in 2010, with the side expected to become the country’s Under-17 team next year.

The association confirmed the full coaching and support staff for the age-group squad, which will form part of Egypt’s pathway towards the international competitions at Under-17 level.

Sabry will be supported by Musab El Yamany and Haitham Hussein as coaches, while Haitham Haitham will also join the coaching staff.

Salah Abdel Gawad has been appointed assistant head coach, with responsibility for planning and training. Mohamed Sobhi will work as goalkeeping coach and Mohamed Latif has been named performance analyst.

The administrative and medical team will be made up of Shady El Sherif as team administrator, Mohamed Ahmed Ali as doctor, Mohamed Mahrous as physiotherapist and Abbas Hussein as masseur.

The 2010-born group is expected to represent Egypt at Under-17 level next year. The team is also expected to take part in North African competitions, the Africa Cup of Nations and the Under-17 World Cup, all of which are held annually.

Sabry’s appointment adds him to the group of coaches currently responsible for Egypt’s different national age groups. Hussein Abdel Latif is in charge of the team for players born in 2009, while Wael Riyad coaches the youth team for players born in 2007.

Hossam Hassan remains head coach of Egypt’s senior national team. Shawky Gharib, meanwhile, is the Egyptian Football Association’s technical director and is also serving as caretaker coach of the Olympic national team.

The appointment of Sabry gives Egypt’s 2010-born players a defined technical structure as they move towards the Under-17 age category. The coaching team includes specialist roles covering training plans, match analysis, goalkeeping, administration and player welfare, alongside the head coach and his assistants.

Egypt’s Under-17 programme is expected to compete in the regional North African events before progressing to the wider continental and global tournaments scheduled for that age group. The team’s participation in those competitions will form part of the country’s preparations at youth international level under the newly approved staff.
