Morocco defender Adam Aznou joins Malaga CF on loan from Everton

Moroccan international Adam Aznou has joined Spanish side Malaga CF on a season-long loan from Everton, with the deal running until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

The agreement does not include an option for Malaga to make the move permanent, meaning Aznou is expected to return to Everton once his temporary spell in Spain comes to an end.

The 20-year-old left-back will wear the number 39 shirt and will initially feature for the club’s reserve side as he works his way back to regular competitive football.

The Spanish club identified the left-back position as an area requiring reinforcement following the departure of Dani Sanchez, with Aznou now brought in to provide another option on that flank.

The move represents a return to Spanish football for Aznou, who previously spent the second half of the 2024/25 season with Real Valladolid. During that spell, he made 13 La Liga appearances, gaining valuable experience at senior level.

Aznou began his development at Bayern Munich, progressing through the German club’s youth system before making his first-team debut. He also gained experience in the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League during his time in Munich.

Everton subsequently secured his services from Bayern for a reported fee of around €9 million, but his first season in England did not provide the regular playing opportunities he had hoped for.

The loan move to Malaga therefore gives Aznou an opportunity to rebuild his rhythm, gain consistent minutes and continue his development in familiar surroundings.

For the Moroccan international, the priority will be to regain his competitive sharpness and establish himself as a regular performer before returning to Everton.
