Tunisian goalkeeper Ali Frioui has joined JS Kairouan from EGS Gafsa on a free transfer, returning to the club he has represented during earlier stages of his career.

The 33-year-old completed the move on 1 September 2026. Frioui, who stands 1.86m tall and prefers his right foot, strengthens JS Kairouan’s goalkeeping options after leaving EGS Gafsa.

Frioui joined EGS Gafsa in July 2024 as a free agent, following his departure from US Tataouine earlier that year. His spell with EGS Gafsa lasted through the 2025-26 season before he switched clubs at the start of the new campaign.

The move takes Frioui back to JS Kairouan, where he first appeared after progressing from the club’s under-21 side. He initially joined the senior team in 2013, beginning a long association with the Tunisian club.

After leaving JS Kairouan for CA Bizertin in December 2020, Frioui spent time without a club before joining Olympique Beja in January 2022. He later returned to JS Kairouan in September 2022, then moved to US Tataouine in July 2023 on another free transfer.

Frioui subsequently became a free agent in January 2024 before signing for EGS Gafsa several months later. His latest switch represents another return to familiar surroundings as he resumes his career with JS Kairouan.

He has also been listed with JS Kairouanaise at international level, while his club career has been spent in Tunisia. Frioui’s latest registration completes his move from EGS Gafsa to JS Kairouan, with no transfer fee involved.
