Lorient linked with Rodez forward Ibrahima Balde after prolific Ligue 2 start

French-Senegalese forward Ibrahima Balde has been linked with a move from Rodez AF to FC Lorient, with the Ligue 1 club monitoring the 23-year-old after his strong opening to the season.

Balde has scored five goals in four Ligue 2 appearances for Rodez in 2026-27, starting all four matches and playing 96% of the available minutes. His goals have come at an average of one every 69 minutes across his recorded league appearances.

The centre-forward joined Rodez from Lens on a free transfer in July 2024. He had previously spent the 2022-23 season on loan at FC Annecy before returning to Lens, where he developed through the club’s academy and reserve sides.

Lorient’s reported interest comes with Balde established as a regular starter for Rodez. The forward is right-footed, stands 1.85m tall and has a current market valuation of €2m.

Balde remains under contract with Rodez until 30 June 2028, meaning any move to Lorient would require an agreement between the clubs rather than relying on the player approaching the end of his contract.
