DR Congo star Axel Tuanzebe linked with transfer deadline day switch to AJ Auxerre

DR Congo international Axel Tuanzebe could make a late move to France, with AJ Auxerre reportedly considering a transfer deadline day swoop for the experienced defender.

The 28-year-old centre-back has emerged as a surprise option for Auxerre as the French club look to reinforce their squad before the transfer window closes. Tuanzebe is currently available as a free agent following the end of his contract with Burnley.

Tuanzebe brings considerable experience to the table, having developed through the Manchester United academy before progressing into the first team. His career has also included spells with Aston Villa, Napoli, Stoke City and Ipswich Town.

His most recent chapter in England came with Burnley, whom he joined after leaving Ipswich. With his contract now expired, the defender is free to negotiate with clubs and could potentially begin a new adventure in French football.

The possible move to Auxerre would be an interesting opportunity for Tuanzebe, particularly as the defender looks to secure regular football and maintain his place in the DR Congo national team.

Tuanzebe switched his international allegiance to DR Congo after representing England at youth level and has since become part of the Leopards setup. He made his senior debut for DR Congo in 2024.
