Ajax consider Monaco centre-back Thilo Kehrer in Eredivisie switch

Germany and Burundi defender Thilo Kehrer is being linked with a move from Monaco to Ajax, with the 29-year-old centre-back potentially making a switch from Ligue 1 to the Eredivisie.

Kehrer joined Monaco on 1 July 2024 and remains under contract with the French club until 30 June 2028. His current market value is €12m, although no transfer fee or agreement has been reported in connection with the rumour.

The defender began his senior career at Schalke, where he progressed through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the first team. He later moved to Paris St-Germain, winning three French league titles, two French Cups, the French League Cup and the French Super Cup during his time in Paris.

Kehrer subsequently played for West Ham United and was part of the side that won the Europa Conference League in the 2022-23 season before joining Monaco.

He has represented Germany internationally and was part of the country’s European Under-21 Championship-winning squad in 2017. His dual German and Burundian nationality is recorded alongside his German international background.

Ajax’s reported interest comes with Kehrer still tied to Monaco for almost two further seasons. The rumour remains unconfirmed, with no indication that a deal has been agreed between the clubs.
