Lazio linked with Nigeria winger Philip Otele in fresh Basel transfer rumour

Nigeria winger Philip Otele, currently with Basel, is being linked with a move to Lazio in Serie A.

The reported transfer is currently assessed at 95%, although there has been no confirmation that an agreement has been reached. Otele’s market value is listed at €4m, while his contract with Basel runs until 30 June 2028.

The 27-year-old has made four appearances in the Swiss Super League this season, playing 181 minutes without scoring or providing an assist. He has also featured once in the Swiss Cup.

Otele returned to Basel in June after spending the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Hamburg. He initially joined Basel from Al-Wahda on loan in January 2025 before making the move permanent for €3m in July of that year.

His first period with the Swiss club ended with a league and cup double in 2024-25, before the temporary switch to Germany. Otele previously played for CFR Cluj and UTA Arad, and entered European football after joining Lithuania’s Kauno Zalgiris in 2022.

A move to Lazio would take the Nigeria international to Italy as Basel continue to hold his registration and contractual rights. For now, Otele remains a Basel player, with more than two years left on his current deal.
