Simon Adingra: Ivory Coast winger linked with Ajax move from Sunderland

Ivory Coast winger Simon Adingra is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Sunderland to Ajax in the Eredivisie.

Adingra, 24, is a left winger and joined Sunderland from Brighton for €24.4m in July 2025. He remains under contract with the Premier League club until 30 June 2030, with his market value listed at €22m.

The forward has not appeared for Sunderland in the Premier League this season, having been named in the matchday squad for two possible games without playing. He made one appearance for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, playing four minutes.

Adingra spent part of the 2025-26 season on loan at Monaco after moving from Sunderland in February for a reported €1m loan fee. He returned to the English club on 30 June, with the loan recorded as ending.

His move to Sunderland came after three seasons with Brighton, having initially joined the club from Danish side Nordsjaelland in 2022. He also spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Union Saint-Gilloise.

Adingra was part of the Ivory Coast side that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2024. The latest rumour places him among Ajax’s potential targets as the Dutch club considers a move for a player whose current Sunderland contract runs until 2030.
