David Datro Fofana: Ivorian striker joins Servette from Chelsea

Ivorian centre-forward David Datro Fofana has joined Servette from Chelsea, completing a move to the Swiss Super League club on 31 August 2026.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract with Servette until 30 June 2030. Fofana arrives after spending the opening weeks of the 2026-27 campaign at Chelsea, where he did not feature in the club’s Premier League or EFL Cup matches before switching clubs.

His departure brings an end to a period in which he was repeatedly sent out on loan by Chelsea. Fofana’s most recent temporary spell was with Strasbourg during the second half of the 2025-26 season, having earlier played for Turkish club Karagumruk in the same campaign.

Before that, the striker spent part of the 2024-25 season with Goztepe and featured for Burnley and Union Berlin during the 2023-24 campaign. He joined each of those clubs on loan from Chelsea before returning to Stamford Bridge.

Fofana initially moved to Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde in January 2023 for €12m. He had joined Molde from Ivorian club Abidjan City in February 2021, establishing himself in Norway before earning a move to the Premier League.

The striker’s record with Molde included a Norwegian league title in 2022 and the Norwegian Cup in 2021. Those honours remain the major team achievements recorded in his senior career.

Born in Ouragahio, Fofana stands 1.82m tall and is a right-footed centre-forward. His arrival gives Servette an attacking player with experience across clubs in England, Germany, Turkey, France and Norway.

Fofana now begins a new chapter in Switzerland after more than three years as a Chelsea player, with his Servette contract running through June 2030.
