Stephen Nene joins unattached players after Renate exit
Italy-Nigeria midfielder Stephen Nene has joined the ranks of unattached players after leaving Italian club Renate.
The 20-year-old right midfielder’s departure was recorded on 31 August 2026, ending his spell with the Serie C side. Nene had been part of Renate’s squad since joining the club from Monza Under-20 in July 2025.
Nene moved to Renate from Monza without a transfer fee and spent the 2025-26 season with the club. His latest switch comes after a campaign in which he did not make an appearance in Serie C – Girone A or the Coppa Italia Serie C.
Born in Italy and also holding Nigerian nationality, Nene is a right-footed midfielder who stands 1.78m tall. He began his youth career with Monza, progressing from the club’s Under-17 side to the Under-19s before moving into the Under-20 set-up.
His market value is listed at €150,000, while his highest recorded value was €250,000 during his time at Monza. Nene’s departure from Renate leaves him without a club as he enters the next stage of his career.
Nene has now completed his move away from Renate and is available as an unattached player.
