Nottingham Forest sign Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Munoz in fifth summer deal

Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Munoz, making the Colombia international their fifth addition of the summer transfer window.

Munoz will reunite with Oliver Glasner, the manager who previously coached him at Crystal Palace and is now in charge at Nottingham Forest.

The 30-year-old will wear the number 27 shirt for the first time in his career after moving to Forest.

“I am very excited and cannot wait to get on to the pitch so I can help my new team-mates achieve all of the club’s goals this season,” Munoz said after completing the transfer.

He added: “This is a club that has fought very hard in recent years, competed strongly and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League. I believe it has even bigger ambitions for the future, and that is something I really like about Forest. That is why I decided to come here.”

Munoz also spoke positively about his relationship with Glasner, under whom he played at Crystal Palace.

“I think Oliver Glasner is a special person and I have a very good relationship with him. We achieved great things together and it was a very special period,” he said.

“I have a great deal of respect and admiration for what he achieved with our former club.”

Munoz began his career with Colombian side Atletico Nacional before joining Belgian club Genk. He moved to Crystal Palace in January 2024 and spent two and a half seasons with the club.

During his time at Palace, Munoz won the FA Cup, the Community Shield and the UEFA Conference League.

He started Crystal Palace’s opening match of the season against Everton, but was left on the substitutes’ bench for their second game against Manchester City as speculation grew over a possible departure.

His move to Nottingham Forest follows the arrivals of Steven Benda, Ousmane Diomande, Xaver Schlager and Liam Delap during the current summer window.

Forest have now strengthened their squad with a player who already knows Glasner’s methods and has experience of competing in domestic and European football. Munoz’s arrival also adds another option at right-back as the club continues its recruitment ahead of the new campaign.

The transfer brings together the Colombia defender and Glasner for a second time after their previous spell at Crystal Palace. Munoz’s comments suggest the manager’s influence was an important factor in his decision to join Forest, while his record with Palace gives the club an experienced defender who has already won major honours.

The right-back will now begin the next stage of his career at Nottingham Forest, where he will wear number 27 and aim to contribute to the club’s ambitions under Glasner.
