Robin Polley joins Sliema Wanderers to begin new chapter in Malta

Robin Polley, the Dutch-Ghanaian right-back, has joined Sliema Wanderers after leaving FF Jaro and spending the past months without a club.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract with the Maltese side until 30 June 2027. Polley becomes part of Sliema Wanderers’ squad for the 2026-27 campaign and is registered as a defender who operates primarily on the right side.

Born in Rotterdam, Polley holds Netherlands and Ghanaian nationality. He stands 1.83m tall and is naturally right-footed, adding experience of Dutch football and previous time abroad to Sliema Wanderers’ defence.

Polley’s most recent club was Finland’s FF Jaro, whom he joined in January 2025 after a period without a club. He returned to the free-agent market at the start of 2026 before completing his move to Sliema Wanderers on 30 August.

His career has included spells with ADO Den Haag, FC Dordrecht, Heracles Almelo and Telstar. Polley joined ADO Den Haag from Feyenoord’s under-18 side in 2018, having previously developed at Spartaan’s under-19 team. He spent periods on loan at FC Dordrecht in 2020 and 2021 before making a move to Heracles Almelo in August 2021.

That transfer was completed for €150,000, and Polley helped Heracles win the Dutch second tier in 2023. He subsequently moved to Telstar on a free transfer in September of that year, before leaving the club at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Polley then joined FF Jaro in January 2025, returning to competitive football after being without a club. His latest move takes him to Sliema Wanderers, who compete in Malta’s Premier League Opening Round.

The full-back has not made an appearance in the competition during the 2026-27 season before joining the club. He now begins his Sliema Wanderers spell with his contract running through the end of June 2027.
