Mustafa Mohamed set to join Konyaspor after arriving in Konya

Mustafa Mohamed is due to arrive in the Turkish city of Konya in the early hours of Sunday as he prepares to complete his move from French club Nantes to Konyaspor.

The Egypt international is expected to travel from Istanbul to Konya ahead of finalising the transfer, according to Anadolu’da Bugun Spor. An official announcement is now the only remaining step before the striker becomes a Konyaspor player.

Turkish broadcaster HT reports that Konyaspor have reached an agreement to sign Mohamed from Nantes for a fee of 750,000 euros, payable in three instalments.

Mohamed has already completed his medical examination without any problems and has received final approval for the transfer. He is expected to join Konyaspor after the departure of the club’s striker Kramer.

The 28-year-old still has one year remaining on his Nantes contract, which is due to expire in the summer of 2027. Nantes were relegated to the French second division last season.

Mohamed’s move follows a difficult start to the campaign in France. He missed most of Nantes’ pre-season preparations after stopping training at the beginning of the season, before returning to work with the club’s reserve team.

The Egyptian forward was then absent from Nantes’ first three matches of the season.

A move to Konyaspor would see Mohamed return to the Turkish league, where he previously played for Galatasaray. He could also join Mohamed Salah in Turkey, with Salah having moved to Trabzonspor.

Mohamed began his European career with Galatasaray before Nantes signed him from the Turkish club for 6.5m euros.

Since joining Nantes three years ago, Mohamed has made 136 appearances for the club and scored 29 goals.

His arrival in Konya is expected to precede the formal confirmation of the transfer, with the agreement between Nantes and Konyaspor already reported to have been completed. The final stages involve the player’s move to the Turkish side following his medical clearance and the expected departure of Kramer.

For Konyaspor, the signing would bring in a forward with previous experience of Turkish football and international experience with Egypt. For Mohamed, it would provide an opportunity to continue his career in Turkey after his earlier spell with Galatasaray, having spent the past three years with Nantes.

The transfer is also taking place against the backdrop of Nantes’ relegation from France’s top flight and Mohamed’s limited involvement at the start of the season. With his contract at Nantes running until the summer of 2027, the move would end his time at the French club after 136 appearances and 29 goals.
