Wydad Casablanca confirm Soufiane Hetli move after Telstar breakthrough
Soufiane Hetli has completed an immediate move from Telstar to Wydad Casablanca, with the Dutch forward joining Hakim Ziyech at the Moroccan club.
The transfer was confirmed by Eredivisie side Telstar on Saturday after Hetli, 25, had already said goodbye to his team-mates on Thursday. His departure had been expected, with the winger now beginning his first professional experience outside the Netherlands.
Hetli joined Telstar from amateur club AFC in the summer of 2024 and made his professional debut with the club. He played a part in Telstar’s promotion to the Eredivisie before helping the “White Lions” secure an impressive survival campaign last season.
The forward made 31 appearances for Telstar during that season, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His performances attracted interest from clubs in Morocco and ultimately led to a move to Wydad Casablanca, where he will play alongside former Eredivisie player Ziyech.
Local media reports say Telstar will receive about €250,000 for Hetli. The fee represents a significant step in the player’s career after his rise from amateur football to the Dutch top flight and now to professional football abroad.
Hetli’s move brings an end to his time at Telstar after only one full season in the Eredivisie. He leaves having experienced both the club’s promotion and its successful attempt to remain in the division, while his performances also earned him attention from clubs in Morocco.
At Wydad Casablanca, he will join a squad that includes Ziyech, who becomes his new team-mate. For Hetli, the transfer marks the next stage of a rapid progression that began with AFC, continued with his professional debut at Telstar and has now taken him overseas for the first time.
