Inter’s Champions League fixtures include Real Madrid, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund

Inter will begin their 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase away to Real Madrid before hosting Liverpool and facing Borussia Dortmund, according to the confirmed fixture schedule.

The Italian side, runners-up in the 2025 Champions League final, will play eight matches in the league phase. Four will be at home and four away, with the campaign beginning on 8 September and concluding on 27 January 2027.

Inter will visit Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu at 22:00 on 8 September, in the opening fixture of their European campaign.

The league phase draw requires each club to face two opponents from each of the four available seeding pots, from the first pot through to the fourth.

Inter will be managed by Cristian Chivu during the campaign after the club won the domestic double last season. The team will have home advantage against Club Brugge, Shakhtar Donetsk, Stuttgart and Liverpool, while their away fixtures will take them to Real Madrid, Feyenoord, Borussia Dortmund and SK Slovan Bratislava.

The meeting with Real Madrid will carry added significance because Jose Mourinho is now back in charge of the Spanish club. Mourinho is a former Inter manager and has returned to coach Real Madrid this season.

Inter and Real Madrid have met 19 times previously. Their first encounter came in the 1964 final, when the Italian club won 3-1.

The 2026-27 Champions League league phase will start on 8 September and finish on 27 January 2027. Inter’s final league-phase match will be away against SK Slovan Bratislava.
