Liverpool make two changes for Nottingham Forest clash as Mac Allister and Munoz start

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has made two changes to his starting XI for the Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest at Anfield in the second round of the season.

The match is due to kick off at 14:30 BST, with Liverpool looking to claim their first win after being held to a 2-2 draw by Newcastle United in the opening round. Nottingham Forest arrive at Anfield after beginning their campaign with a 1-0 defeat by Leeds United.

Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz have been brought into the Liverpool line-up, replacing Ryan Gravenberch and Rio Ngumoha.

Gravenberch and Ngumoha both started Liverpool’s match against Newcastle United in the first round, but neither keeps their place for the fixture against Forest.

Alisson Becker starts in goal, while the defence is made up of Milos Kerkez, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet and Jeremie Frimpong.

Dominik Szoboszlai joins Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz in midfield, with Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak and Munoz selected in attack.

Liverpool’s starting line-up is:

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

Defenders: Milos Kerkez, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet, Jeremie Frimpong

Midfielders: Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz

Forwards: Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak, Victor Munoz

The changes give Mac Allister and Munoz the opportunity to start after Liverpool’s opening-day draw at Newcastle United. Liverpool conceded an equaliser in the final seconds of that match, with the contest ending 2-2.

Nottingham Forest’s first result of the season was less positive. They were beaten 1-0 by Leeds United and will now try to recover at Anfield.

The fixture brings together two sides still searching for their first victory of the campaign. Liverpool have home advantage and have made two adjustments to the team that began against Newcastle United, while Forest are attempting to respond after their narrow loss to Leeds United.

Iraola’s selected team includes a number of attacking options, with Gakpo, Isak and Munoz named in the forward line and Wirtz positioned in midfield. Van Dijk is included at the heart of the defence, with Becker retained as Liverpool’s goalkeeper.

The match at Anfield is the second-round meeting between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
