Raja Athletic Club continue negotiations to sign Amine Souane from Fath Union Sport
Raja Athletic Club are continuing their efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season, with Amine Souane remaining one of the club’s main targets during the current summer transfer window.
According to reports, Raja remain in negotiations with Fath Union Sport over the signing of the midfielder, with the Casablanca giants now the only club still actively pursuing the player.
Souane’s situation has attracted significant interest in recent weeks, with several leading Moroccan clubs initially exploring the possibility of securing his services.
At the beginning of August, Fath Union Sport received interest from Raja Casablanca, Wydad Casablanca and RS Berkane, all of whom were keen to acquire the remaining period of Souane’s contract.
However, the race has since narrowed considerably.
Wydad were reportedly the first club to withdraw from the pursuit after assessing the financial conditions set by Fath Union Sport. RS Berkane subsequently followed the same path after reviewing the club’s demands.
Neither Wydad nor RS Berkane ultimately submitted formal offers for the player, leaving Raja as the only club continuing negotiations with Fath Union Sport.
Financial gap remains major obstacle
The main stumbling block in the negotiations is financial.
Raja are understood to be working to reach an agreement with Fath Union Sport, but there remains a significant gap between the offer made by the Casablanca club and the amount demanded by the player’s current employers.
Fath Union Sport are maintaining their financial demands and are not prepared to release Souane unless their valuation is met.
Raja, meanwhile, are attempting to find a compromise that would allow them to complete the transfer before the summer window closes.
The negotiations on Raja’s side are being handled by club president Jawad Ziyat and sporting director Rogério Matías, who are directly involved in efforts to bring the deal to a successful conclusion.
During the latest round of discussions, Raja officials reportedly asked for additional time to study Fath Union Sport’s financial demands before returning with their final position.
This suggests that the club remains interested in completing the transfer but wants to carefully assess the financial implications before making a final commitment.
Souane’s contract gives FUS leverage
One factor strengthening Fath Union Sport’s negotiating position is Souane’s current contract situation.
The player remains tied to the club until the end of next season, meaning FUS are under no immediate pressure to sell him and can insist on receiving their preferred financial package.
His contract situation, combined with the interest he has attracted from several clubs, has allowed Fath Union Sport to maintain a firm stance during negotiations.
For Raja, however, the opportunity to bring Souane into the squad remains attractive, particularly as the club continues to reshape its team ahead of the new campaign.
Souane awaits decision on future
While the two clubs continue discussions, Souane himself is waiting for clarity regarding his next destination.
With Wydad and RS Berkane no longer actively pursuing the player, Raja currently represent his only concrete option among the clubs previously linked with a move.
The coming days could therefore prove decisive, particularly with the transfer window approaching its conclusion.
Raja are determined to strengthen their squad, but they must first bridge the financial gap with Fath Union Sport.
Unless the two clubs reach an agreement on the transfer fee and other financial conditions, Souane could remain with Fath Union Sport for the final year of his contract.
For now, negotiations remain ongoing, with Raja Casablanca hoping to reach a breakthrough and complete the signing before the transfer window closes.
