Sacha Boey left out of Bayern Munich team photo as club weighs defender’s future

Bayern Munich appear ready to part company with Sacha Boey, with sporting director Max Eberl confirming that the 25-year-old defender is no longer central to the club’s plans.

Boey was not selected for Bayern’s traditional team photograph in Lederhosen, arranged with the club’s sponsor Paulaner. According to Florian Plettenberg, his omission is another indication that the Bundesliga champions do not currently see him as an important part of their squad.

Eberl has now acknowledged the situation while discussing the future of the former Galatasaray player. Although he was reported to have joined Bayern with significant expectations, Boey’s position at the club has changed and he no longer appears to be among the German side’s priorities.

The sporting director has nevertheless remained cautious about what happens next. Bayern’s position suggests the club is open to a departure, but Boey’s next move will depend on whether a suitable solution can be found.

Boey is under contract at Bayern Munich until 30 June 2028. If he wants to revive his career elsewhere, he will now need to find a way out of the club, either through a permanent transfer or another arrangement acceptable to Bayern.

Boey arrived at Bayern after building his reputation at Galatasaray, but his time in Munich has not developed as expected. The club’s decision to exclude him from the sponsor-linked team photograph has added to the speculation over his future, while Eberl’s comments have strengthened the impression that Bayern are prepared to move him on.
