Newcastle United target Bilal El Khannouss after £60m Matias Fernandez-Pardo bid

Newcastle United have identified Morocco international Bilal El Khannouss as an alternative attacking target after their attempt to sign Lille winger Matias Fernandez-Pardo failed to result in an agreement.

The Premier League club are understood to be considering a late move for El Khannouss as they continue to search for another attacking player before the transfer deadline.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, as reported by Morocco World News, Newcastle had offered £60m for Fernandez-Pardo. That proposal was part of an increased effort by Eddie Howe’s side to add further creativity and attacking quality to their squad ahead of the new campaign.

With no deal agreed for Fernandez-Pardo, El Khannouss has now emerged as a possible solution.

Stuttgart are reportedly prepared to consider allowing the 22-year-old to leave before the deadline. The Bundesliga club are keen to generate funds by selling one of their most valuable players, even though his departure could have a significant effect on their team from a sporting point of view.

El Khannouss had initially been reluctant to move away from Stuttgart. His preference was understood to be staying in Germany and competing in the Champions League.

However, that position may have changed as Stuttgart press ahead with plans to reach an agreement. The opportunity to join Newcastle and take on a new challenge in the Premier League could also persuade the Morocco international to reconsider his future.
