Solbiatese sign Nigeria midfielder Nuhu Shaibu on loan from Reggiana

Nigeria midfielder Nuhu Shaibu has joined Solbiatese from Reggiana on loan, completing a move to the Italian club that runs until 30 June 2027.

The 22-year-old central midfielder switches from Reggiana’s Serie C set-up to Solbiatese, who compete in Serie D. The transfer was completed on 27 August 2026, with Shaibu’s new registration covering the 2026-27 season.

Shaibu joined Solbiatese after returning to Reggiana at the end of a loan spell with Pompei. He spent the 2025-26 season at Pompei before returning to Reggiana on 30 June 2026.

There have been no appearances, goals or assists recorded for Shaibu in the opening Serie C or Coppa Italia Serie C fixtures of the 2026-27 campaign. His move to Solbiatese gives him a new opportunity within Italian football, with the club competing in a different division from his parent side.

Born on 1 January 2004, Shaibu stands 1.85m tall and plays primarily in central midfield. He joined Reggiana’s youth set-up from Osimostazione in July 2023 after an earlier loan move between the two clubs during the 2022-23 season.

His first recorded move involving Reggiana came in January 2023, when he joined the club’s Under-19 side from Osimostazione on loan. He returned to Osimostazione at the end of that season before making the move to Reggiana’s youth team permanent in July 2023.

Shaibu then moved to Pompei on loan in August 2025. After completing that spell, he went back to Reggiana before making the latest temporary switch to Solbiatese.

The move places the Nigerian midfielder in Solbiatese’s squad for its Serie D campaign while Reggiana retain his registration. The loan agreement runs through the end of June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Reggiana.

Shaibu is therefore set to spend the 2026-27 season with Solbiatese after completing his loan transfer from Reggiana.
