Sanat Naft bring in Gabon midfielder Eric Bocoum after Gol Gohar exit
Gabon attacking midfielder Eric Bocoum has joined Sanat Naft from fellow Iranian club Gol Gohar on a free transfer, adding a new creative option to the club’s Persian Gulf league squad.
The 27-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2027 after completing his move on 26 August. Bocoum plays primarily behind the forwards and is left-footed, while his height of 1.95m gives him a notable physical presence in midfield.
Bocoum arrives after almost five years connected with Gol Gohar, who signed him from Gabonese club CF Mounana in November 2021. He initially moved to the Iranian side for a fee of €26,000 before spending part of the 2021-22 season on loan at Istiqlol Dushanbe in Tajikistan.
During that loan spell, Bocoum helped Istiqlol win the Tajikistan Super Cup and the Tajikistan championship in 2022. He returned to Gol Gohar at the end of June that year and remained part of the club’s squad before making his switch to Sanat Naft.
The move brings Bocoum into Sanat Naft’s squad during the 2026-27 Persian Gulf Pro League campaign. He had not made an appearance, scored or provided an assist in the competition before completing the transfer, with three league matches recorded as possible games at that stage.
Bocoum was born in Libreville and represents Gabon, having spent his club career in Gabon, Iran and Tajikistan. His earlier domestic experience includes CF Mounana, while his time at Istiqlol produced the two major honours of his career so far.
Sanat Naft have secured Bocoum without a transfer fee, and the midfielder is contracted to the Iranian club through June 2027.
