Barletta sign Togo-Italian midfielder Halid Djankpata from Spezia
Barletta have signed 21-year-old Togo-Italian central midfielder Halid Djankpata from Spezia, adding the right-footed midfielder to their squad on a contract running until 30 June 2028.
Djankpata completed the move on 26 August 2026, switching from Spezia’s Serie C – Girone B side to Barletta in Serie C – Girone C. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.
Born in Lome, Togo, Djankpata stands 1.85m tall and has represented both Togo and Italy as his nationalities. He began his development in Everton’s youth system, moving from Everton Youth to Everton Under-18s in 2021 before progressing to the club’s Under-21 side two years later.
His move to Italy came in August 2024, when he left Everton Under-21s for Spezia in a deal valued at €50,000. The midfielder spent the 2025-26 campaign away from Spezia on loan at AS Gubbio, before returning to his parent club at the end of June.
Djankpata’s spell with Gubbio followed his progression into senior football in Italy, while his return to Spezia preceded his move to Barletta. He now joins a Barletta team competing in Serie C – Girone C, with his new contract securing his position at the club through the end of the 2027-28 season.
The midfielder has yet to make an appearance for Barletta in the 2026-27 Serie C campaign or the Coppa Italia Serie C. His arrival was registered before the club’s opening fixtures in both competitions.
Djankpata’s career has included youth football in England, a transfer to Spezia and a loan spell at Gubbio before his latest move. At Barletta, he will continue his senior career in Italy as a central midfielder.
The completed transfer brings Djankpata’s time with Spezia to an end after two years, including his temporary spell with Gubbio, and places him under contract at Barletta until June 2028.
