Algerian footballer Ramez Zrouki expressed profound disappointment over the early exit of the national team, the Desert Foxes, from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Ivory Coast, describing it as a “shock” and a “disheartening” turn of events.
Speaking to “Waan Vinord” and reported by the Dutch site “FR12,” Zrouki reflected on his participation with the Desert Foxes in AFCON, stating, “It was disheartening… things did not go as we had hoped.”
The Algerian international added, “Elimination in the group stage, as you see in football, can go one way or the other.”
Zrouki continued, “Certainly, it was somewhat of a harsh blow for us to exit AFCON, especially as we were considered contenders to go far in this tournament.”
In the same context, the Algerian player emphasized that overcoming such disappointment takes time, concluding, “I returned to the team… you have to keep going, and I believe I have done that.”
