Ibrahim Bance set to join Chippa United after Marumo Gallants exit

Burkina Faso midfielder Ibrahim Bance is expected to complete a move to Chippa United this weekend after deciding to remain in the Betway Premiership following his departure from Marumo Gallants.

Bance is due back in South Africa by the end of this week to finalise the transfer. Soccer Laduma reports that the deal should be completed by the end of the weekend, with Chippa United hopeful the left-footed central midfielder could make his debut soon after joining.

The midfielder attracted interest in South Africa and elsewhere on the continent after an impressive campaign with Marumo Gallants last season. Despite that attention, Bance has opted to continue his career in the Betway Premiership rather than move abroad.

His proposed switch comes at a difficult point in Chippa United’s season. The club have failed to win any of their opening four Premiership matches and are looking for a change in fortunes.

Bance is not expected to provide a regular supply of goals or assists, but his influence is likely to be measured through his work in the centre of the pitch. Chippa United hope his ability to retain possession and help control matches will bring greater stability to their midfield.

The Burkina Faso international is regarded as a player who can improve the way the team builds its play. His comfort on the ball could give Chippa United an important presence in midfield as they attempt to recover from their poor start.

The move would also provide head coach Brandon Truter with another option in the middle of the pitch. Bance is expected to compete and combine with Goodman Mosele, Sammy Seabi and Azola Tshobeni as Truter looks to find the right balance in his side.
