Jean-Luc Dompe nears free transfer from HSV to Konyaspor

Jean-Luc Dompe is closing in on a swift exit from Hamburger SV, with the French winger expected to travel to Turkey on Wednesday for talks with Super Lig side Konyaspor.

HSV have released the 31-year-old from training as discussions over a possible free transfer move forward.

According to Bild, Konyaspor have emerged as the most likely destination for Dompe after Hamburg became willing to let him leave without a transfer fee. The player was absent from the club’s training session while arrangements for the trip were being made.

Dompe arrived at HSV from Belgian club Zulte Waregem in 2022 for €1.1 million. He produced encouraging displays during Hamburg’s time in the second division, establishing himself as a lively wide option with pace and flair.

However, he struggled to prove that he could consistently make an impact at Bundesliga level last season. Off-field incidents also complicated his spell at the club, reducing the likelihood of a long-term future in northern Germany.

Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna had previously shown interest, but Konyaspor now appear to be leading the race. If negotiations progress smoothly, Dompe could soon begin the next chapter of his career in Turkey.
