Kaizer Chiefs send two more academy prospects on season-long loans

Kaizer Chiefs have loaned two more of their emerging talents to Motsepe Foundation Championship newcomers Hope FC for the 2026/27 season.

Naledi Hlongwane and Pheko Phago have completed season-long moves to the newly promoted side, with the pair set to gain regular first-team experience away from Naturena.

The two players are regarded as among the most promising prospects in the Kaizer Chiefs development system. Their move to Hope FC forms part of the club’s wider use of the loan market to accelerate the progress of players who are not currently regular members of the senior team.

Hlongwane and Phago will join a Hope FC squad that already includes two other graduates of the Kaizer Chiefs academy. Samkelo Zwane and goalkeeper Bontle Molefe recently moved to the Cape Town-based club on loan and will now be reunited with their former academy colleagues.

The arrangement gives all four players an opportunity to continue their development in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Hope FC benefit from the addition of young talent from one of South Africa’s leading development structures.

For Hlongwane and Phago, the immediate priority will be securing valuable first-team game time throughout the 2026/27 campaign. Their progress at Hope FC will be monitored as Kaizer Chiefs continue to use temporary moves to provide competitive experience for members of their rising generation.

The Amakhosi have also loaned a number of other products from their youth academy to clubs around the country. Sifiso Timba, Ofentse Kgosana and Vicky Mkhawana are among the Chiefs youngsters currently gaining experience elsewhere in the domestic game.

The latest departures come as Kaizer Chiefs prepare for their next first-team fixture. The Amakhosi are scheduled to face Richards Bay FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.

Kick-off is set for 19:30, with the match taking place as Chiefs continue their 2026/27 campaign while several of their academy prospects pursue regular football away from the club.

Hlongwane and Phago’s moves mean Hope FC will now have four players with links to the Kaizer Chiefs development system. The club’s decision to send the pair out for the full season underlines its focus on ensuring that promising players receive competitive exposure as they work towards establishing themselves in the senior side.
