Aïssa Mandi earns La Liga Team of the Week spot after Levante display
Aïssa Mandi has been named in SofaScore’s La Liga Team of the Week for matchday two after helping Levante secure their first point of the season against Osasuna.
The Algeria international produced a strong defensive display as Levante held Osasuna to a 0-0 draw at El Sadar, responding well to their heavy 3-0 defeat on the opening weekend.
Mandi started at the heart of Levante’s defence and remained composed throughout the match despite the hosts testing the visitors with seven shots on target.
The experienced centre-back played an important part in helping Levante record their first clean sheet of the campaign. His contribution, alongside goalkeeper Mathew Ryan’s decisive interventions, ensured the Valencian side left Pamplona with a point.
The performance also earned Mandi recognition from SofaScore, which included him in its Team of the Week for the second round of La Liga fixtures.
The Algerian was given a rating of 7.6, sharing the lowest score among the players selected in the Team of the Week with Espart and Koke.
Mandi joined Levante on a free transfer this summer following the end of his spell with LOSC Lille. His early performances have already highlighted the value of his experience as Levante look to establish themselves in the Spanish top flight.
The 2026 World Cup qualifier was brought in as part of the club’s squad and has quickly made an impression at the centre of the defence.
Levante’s result at Osasuna represented a significant improvement after their difficult opening fixture. The 0-0 draw gave the club their first point of the season while also providing their first clean sheet.
The result leaves Levante 17th in the La Liga table with one point from their opening two matches.
Their next opportunity to claim a first victory will come on Saturday, 29 August, when they host Real Betis.
Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm Algerian time, with Mandi expected to retain his place in the starting line-up.
After his impressive showing against Osasuna, the Algeria international will be hoping to maintain his form when Levante return to action and continue their search for their first league win of the campaign.
