Al-Ittihad identify Wolfsburg winger Mohamed Amine Amoura as possible summer replacement

Al-Ittihad are preparing for the possibility of Moussa Diaby leaving the club by considering a move for Algeria international Mohamed Amine Amoura, according to reports in Saudi Arabia.

The Roshn Saudi League leaders are understood to be keen on opening formal negotiations for the 26-year-old Wolfsburg winger during the current summer transfer window. Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that Amoura has emerged as a leading option to fill the potential attacking void created by Diaby’s departure.

Diaby is increasingly being linked with a move away from Jeddah, with serious interest reportedly coming from German club Bayer Leverkusen and Italian giants Inter Milan. That uncertainty has encouraged Al-Ittihad’s management to begin identifying a replacement with similar attacking qualities before the transfer window progresses further.

Amoura joined Wolfsburg in 2025 and has impressed since arriving in Germany. He is under contract with the club until the summer of 2029, while Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €20m.

The Algeria forward has made 67 appearances for Wolfsburg, scoring 18 goals and providing 16 assists. He has also established himself as an important player for his country, making 47 international appearances and scoring 19 goals for Algeria.

Any approach for Amoura would represent another significant attacking move for Al-Ittihad, although there is no indication that an agreement has been reached with either the player or Wolfsburg. The club’s reported interest comes as Diaby’s future continues to attract attention from leading European sides.

Al-Ittihad have also been linked with a move for Egypt international Emam Ashour of Al Ahly in recent days. However, local reports have indicated that discussions between the two clubs did not develop into formal negotiations.

The club are currently enjoying an excellent run of form under a strong start to their Roshn Saudi League campaign. Al-Ittihad moved temporarily to the top of the table after beating Al Hazem 3-2 on Monday evening in the competition’s third round.

That result gave them seven points from their opening three matches. Their record so far comprises victories over Al Qadsiah and Al Hazem, alongside a draw with Al-Kholood.

With Diaby potentially attracting offers from Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan, Al-Ittihad’s interest in Amoura suggests the club are already planning for more than one possible outcome in the summer market. The Algerian’s age, record for Wolfsburg and international experience have made him an appealing candidate as the Saudi club assesses how to maintain its attacking strength.
