Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa emerges as Besiktas target after Mohamed Salah setback

Besiktas have made enquiries about Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements following the collapse of their attempt to sign Mohamed Salah.

The Turkish club, who are aiming to challenge strongly for the Turkish league title, have identified the Algeria international as a possible option for the right-wing position.

Besiktas became involved in formal negotiations with Salah last month, but the talks eventually stalled. Trabzonspor then completed a historic deal for the Egypt captain.

With Besiktas still looking to strengthen their wide attacking options, Hadj Moussa has now emerged as one of the players under consideration. The 24-year-old currently plays for Feyenoord and is under contract with the Dutch club until 2030.

According to Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, Besiktas have asked about the conditions required to sign Hadj Moussa and have placed him on their list of potential transfer targets.

The club are expected to assess the financial implications of any move before deciding whether to make a formal offer. Hadj Moussa’s long-term contract means Feyenoord would be in a strong negotiating position, with Besiktas first waiting to discover the fee the club would demand for the player.

Hadj Moussa operates mainly as a right winger and is left-footed. His game is built around his pace, ability to beat opponents in one-on-one situations and tendency to move from the right flank into central areas to create opportunities and threaten goal.

Besiktas’ coaching staff are understood to be seeking a winger who can add greater variety to their attack, and Hadj Moussa is considered to fit the profile they want.

The Algerian has already attracted interest from elsewhere. Al Ahli Saudi made an initial offer for him after Riyad Mahrez left the club, but Feyenoord rejected the proposal and reportedly demanded 37m euros for their player, according to Foot Mercato in early July.

Hadj Moussa joined Feyenoord in 2024, and the length of his current agreement means any prospective transfer is likely to depend on whether Besiktas are prepared to meet Feyenoord’s valuation.

For now, the Turkish side’s interest remains at the enquiry stage. Besiktas are waiting for clarity over the financial terms before determining whether to pursue the deal, while they continue to rebuild their attacking options after missing out on Salah.
