Juventus close in on Wolfsburg goalkeeper Kamil Grabara deal
Juventus are nearing a final agreement with Wolfsburg to sign Poland goalkeeper Kamil Grabara, according to Sky Sports.
Grabara has been identified as Juventus’ preferred option to become the club’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Guglielmo Vicario, who is also set to join during the current summer transfer window. Negotiations between Juventus and Wolfsburg are continuing, but the two clubs are understood to be close to completing the transfer.
The proposed deal is expected to be a loan move that includes an option for Juventus to buy Grabara permanently. No final agreement has yet been confirmed, although discussions have progressed sufficiently for the Italian club to be optimistic about concluding the deal.
The move forms part of a wider restructuring of Juventus’ goalkeeping department. Michele Di Gregorio is close to leaving for Bournemouth on loan, with the English club set to have the option to make the transfer permanent.
Mattia Perin is also preparing to depart Juventus, with Palermo set to be his next destination. Those expected exits have led the club to reshape its options in goal, with Vicario lined up to become the team’s main goalkeeper and Grabara viewed as his understudy.
Juventus have already secured an agreement to sign Vicario from Tottenham on loan. The Italian goalkeeper is therefore expected to compete for the starting position, while Grabara would provide cover as the club’s reserve goalkeeper if his move from Wolfsburg is completed.
Grabara, 26, made 37 appearances for Wolfsburg in all competitions last season. He conceded 71 goals during those matches and kept four clean sheets.
The negotiations over his potential move remain ongoing, but Sky Sports reports that Juventus and Wolfsburg are approaching an agreement. The expected loan arrangement, together with the option to buy, would allow Juventus to strengthen their goalkeeping group while retaining flexibility over a permanent transfer.
The planned changes would leave Juventus with Vicario as their leading option, Grabara as the second goalkeeper and Di Gregorio and Perin moving on. The club is now working to complete the deal for Grabara as it continues to reorganise the position ahead of the new season.
