Newly promoted Moroccan top-flight side Amal Tiznit have strengthened their squad ahead of the new Botola Pro campaign with the signing of experienced goalkeeper Mehdi Jerbaoui.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper has joined from Renaissance Zemamra on a one-year contract as Amal Tiznit prepare for their first season among Morocco’s elite.

Jerbaoui brings considerable experience to the newly promoted side, having spent his career playing for several clubs across Moroccan football.

The goalkeeper has previously represented Raja Beni Mellal, Hassania Agadir and Moghreb Tetouan, gaining valuable experience in the country’s top divisions and establishing himself as a dependable presence between the posts.

One of the most notable periods of Jerbaoui’s career came during his time with Hassania Agadir, where he spent three seasons protecting the goal of the Agadir-based club.

His performances during that period helped underline his consistency and experience, before he eventually left the club and joined Moghreb Tetouan as a free agent.

Jerbaoui’s arrival at Amal Tiznit is therefore viewed as an important addition to a squad preparing for the demands of top-flight football.

The newly promoted club are expected to rely heavily on experienced players as they seek to establish themselves in the Moroccan Professional League following their promotion.

His leadership and understanding of the demands of competitive league football could prove particularly valuable to a team entering a new chapter in its history.

The goalkeeper becomes the second official signing announced by Amal Tiznit during the current recruitment period.

The club had earlier confirmed the arrival of Togolese defender Koffi Benjamin Houlette, who signed a two-year contract with the newly promoted side.

The two additions form part of Amal Tiznit’s efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, with the club looking to combine experience with the existing core of players that secured promotion.

The management are understood to be focused on bringing in more experienced players capable of helping head coach Abdelrahim Chakilit navigate the challenges of top-flight football.

For coach Chakilit, the arrival of Jerbaoui provides another option in goal and adds competition for the starting position as the team prepares for its debut season at the highest level.

Amal Tiznit will be hoping that Jerbaoui’s experience in Moroccan football can help the club avoid the difficulties often faced by newly promoted teams.

With the demands of the Botola Pro expected to be significantly higher, the club believes experienced players such as Jerbaoui can provide the composure and leadership needed to compete against established sides.

The goalkeeper will now begin preparations with his new teammates as Amal Tiznit work towards making a strong impression in the top division.

The club has welcomed Jerbaoui and expressed its hope that he will play an important role in the team’s ambitions, contributing alongside his new teammates to what promises to be a historic campaign for the Silver Capital representatives.

Jerbaoui’s immediate objective will be to settle quickly into his new surroundings and help Amal Tiznit build a solid defensive foundation as they embark on their first season in Morocco’s top flight.
