Ismael Saibari wins first Bayern Munich trophy in German Super Cup triumph
Morocco international Ismael Saibari began his Bayern Munich career with silverware as the German champions defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 to win the German Super Cup.
Saibari came off the bench in the 81st minute as Bayern held on at Signal Iduna Park to claim their 12th German Super Cup title.
The trophy marks the Moroccan midfielder’s first major honour since joining Bayern and gives him an early success at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Bayern take control before half-time
Bayern made the breakthrough in the 28th minute after Dortmund failed to clear the danger, allowing Nathaniel Brown to finish and put the visitors ahead.
Michael Olise then doubled Bayern’s advantage shortly before half-time, scoring in the 45th minute to give the visitors a commanding 2-0 lead at the interval.
Saibari began the match among the substitutes and was introduced late in the game, replacing Brown, the scorer of Bayern’s opening goal.
Dortmund fight back but Bayern hold on
The hosts responded after the break and reduced the deficit in the 75th minute when Fabio Silva scored to make it 2-1.
Dortmund increased the pressure in the closing stages as they searched for an equaliser, but Bayern’s defence held firm to secure victory.
The result gives Bayern a winning start to the 2026-27 campaign, while Saibari’s first appearance for the club ends with his first trophy.
For the Moroccan international, it is an early indication of what could be a successful new chapter in Germany.
