Mamelodi Sundowns name starting XI for MTN8 semi-final against Golden Arrows

Mamelodi Sundowns have named their starting line-up for Sunday afternoon’s MTN8 semi-final first leg against Golden Arrows at Lucas Moripe Stadium, while Arrows’ team remains to be confirmed.

Sundowns will begin with Goss in goal, behind a defensive group featuring Johannes, Khuliso Khoza and Mdunyelwa. Aubaas, Allende and Modiba are also included, with B. Mokoena, Mailula and Mothiba completing the announced line-up.

The Brazilians have made a positive start to the 2026/27 campaign. Their season began in the previous round of the MTN8, where they defeated Polokwane City 3-2 after extra time.

Since that match, Sundowns have added victories over TS Galaxy and Marumo Gallants. They also drew 1-1 with Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, leaving them unbeaten across those fixtures.

However, Sundowns received an injury setback on Wednesday when defender Khuliso Mudau suffered an Achilles injury during the win against Marumo Gallants. His absence is notable as the club prepares for the opening match of the semi-final tie.

Golden Arrows reached the last four by claiming a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the previous round. They have not yet announced their starting XI for the match at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns’ substitutes are Onyango, Mvala, Basadien, Morena, Mkhulise, Zwane, Matthews, Santos and Leon.

The MTN8 semi-final will be played over two legs, with Sunday’s meeting serving as the first contest between the teams. The fixture is scheduled for 23 August 2026.

Mamelodi Sundowns starting XI: Goss, Johannes, Khuliso Khoza, Mdunyelwa, Aubaas, Allende, Modiba, B. Mokoena, Mailula, Mothiba.

Substitutes: Onyango, Mvala, Basadien, Morena, Mkhulise, Zwane, Matthews, Santos, Leon.

Golden Arrows starting XI: To be confirmed.

Sundowns enter the tie after a run that includes two wins and a draw since their extra-time success against Polokwane City. Golden Arrows, meanwhile, will look to build on their narrow knockout victory over Kaizer Chiefs as they begin their semi-final campaign.

The match will take place at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with both sides competing for a place in the MTN8 final.
