The Egyptian Football Federation has disclosed its stance on appointing Sayed Abdel Hafez, the former football director at Al Ahly, as the director of the Egyptian national team.
Ihab El-Komy, a member of the Egyptian Football Federation, affirmed that Sayed Abdel Hafez is not a candidate to assume the position of the national team director in the near future.
“While Abdel Hafez possesses an excellent track record and extensive experience in administrative work, his name has not been put forward to be part of the new coaching staff for the Egyptian national team,” stated El-Komy.
He continued, “The Egyptian Football Federation has contracted with Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria with the approval of all members, not just Hossam Imam, who has been experiencing profound sadness following the significant criticism directed at him in the recent period.”
It is worth noting that the Egyptian Football Federation announced in an official statement on Sunday evening the dismissal of Rui Vitoria from coaching the Egyptian national team after the disappointing results achieved under the Portuguese coach’s leadership in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mohamed Youssef has been appointed as the general coach for the Egyptian national team, with Alaa Nabil appointed as the technical director for the federation.
