Jaiminho switches to Leiria as free agent from Farense

Portuguese and Guinea-Bissau winger Jaiminho has joined Leiria from Farense on a free transfer, adding a 28-year-old right-sided attacker to the Liga Portugal 2 club’s squad.

Jaiminho has signed a contract with Leiria running until 30 June 2027. The right-footed player, who was born in Vila do Conde, is listed primarily as a right winger and returns to action with his new club after beginning the 2026-27 campaign without an appearance.

His move ends a spell with Farense that began in August 2024, when he joined the club from Oliveirense on a free transfer. During the 2024-25 season, Jaiminho spent part of the campaign on loan at Leixoes before returning to Farense at the end of June 2025.

The switch to Leiria means Jaiminho remains in Portugal’s second tier and continues a career spent largely within the domestic professional game. Before moving to Oliveirense, he had been with Rio Ave B, having progressed through Rio Ave’s development structure after earlier time in the club’s under-23, under-19 and under-17 teams.

Jaiminho’s footballing path began at Varzim’s youth level before he joined FC Porto’s youth setup in January 2010. He moved to Rio Ave’s under-15 side in July that year and remained connected to the club through successive age groups. His senior pathway included a loan move to Merelinense in August 2017, followed by a return to Rio Ave in June 2018.

The winger later moved permanently from Rio Ave B to Oliveirense in July 2021, beginning the sequence of senior club transfers that has taken him to Farense and now Leiria. His current market value is listed at €200,000, while his highest recorded value was €450,000.

Leiria have secured Jaiminho’s services without a transfer fee, with the player’s contract confirmed through the end of June 2027.
