Pape Matar Sarr on the radar of Galatasaray

Turkish giants Galatasaray have stepped up their efforts to strengthen their midfield with an approach for Tottenham Hotspur and Senegal international midfielder Pape Matar Sarr.

According to reports, Galatasaray have submitted an official offer worth €18 million for the 23-year-old midfielder.

However, Tottenham have rejected the initial proposal, with the Premier League club reportedly demanding at least €25 million before they consider allowing Sarr to leave during the current transfer window.

Negotiations between the two clubs are understood to be ongoing as Galatasaray look to reach an agreement with Spurs over a potential transfer.

While discussions between the clubs have yet to produce a breakthrough, Galatasaray have reportedly made significant progress in negotiations with Sarr over personal terms.

There are currently no major issues in talks between the Turkish club and the Senegalese international, leaving the agreement between Galatasaray and Tottenham as the key obstacle to completing the transfer.

Sarr has been a Tottenham player since 2021, having initially joined the North London club before spending the 2021/22 season on loan at French side Metz.

The midfielder has since developed into an important option in Tottenham’s midfield, with his energy, ball-carrying ability and versatility making him a valuable member of the squad.

His current contract with Tottenham runs until June 2030, giving the Premier League side a strong negotiating position as Galatasaray continue their pursuit.

The Turkish champions will now have to decide whether to improve their opening offer in order to convince Tottenham to part ways with the highly rated midfielder.

According to Transfermarkt, Sarr is currently valued at €30 million, a figure that further highlights his status in the transfer market.

With personal terms reportedly progressing smoothly, attention will now turn to negotiations between Galatasaray and Tottenham as the Istanbul giants attempt to secure Sarr’s signature.
