Ghana consider Patrice Beaumelle as next Black Stars manager

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is considering a proposal for French coach Patrice Beaumelle to take charge of the Black Stars following the resignation of Carlos Queiroz, according to football insider Micky Jnr.

Ghana have been without a manager since Queiroz stepped down two days after the team were eliminated from the last 16 of the 2026 World Cup. The GFA is now reviewing candidates and is understood to have received Beaumelle’s application through its recruitment department.

The 48-year-old Frenchman is believed to be viewed favourably by Ghanaian officials because of his coaching experience and his knowledge of African football.

Beaumelle has worked with national teams in Zambia, Cote d’Ivoire, Angola and Morocco, serving both as an assistant and as a head coach. He was also previously the number two to Herve Renard, who guided teams to Africa Cup of Nations victories in 2012 and 2015.

His club coaching career has included spells with MC Alger and Esperance de Tunis. His most recent position was with the Tunisian club, where his tenure ended after only three months.

Beaumelle, who was born in Arles, was officially dismissed on 11 May following Esperance de Tunis’ 1-0 defeat by Club Africain in the Tunis derby on 10 May. He has been without a club since then and is looking for a new opportunity.

Before the Ghana link emerged, Beaumelle had also been proposed as a possible replacement for Said Chiba at FUS Rabat in Morocco. The club ultimately opted for Ricardo Formosinho instead.

If appointed, Beaumelle would become the latest in a long line of foreign coaches to lead Ghana. The last Frenchman to manage the Black Stars was Claude Le Roy, who held the role from September 2006 until May 2008.

Ghana’s search for a new manager comes after a significant change in the national-team set-up following Queiroz’s departure. The GFA’s recruitment team is expected to assess Beaumelle’s background alongside other potential candidates before a final decision is made.
