Newcastle United reach agreement to sign Guinean midfielder Ousmane Diabaté
Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly rated Guinean midfielder Ousmane Diabaté from Turkish club Gençlerbirliği.
The 18-year-old has opted to join the Premier League outfit despite reported interest from several other clubs, including Fenerbahçe, Brentford and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to reports, Diabaté has already travelled to Tyneside to undergo his medical ahead of completing his move to Newcastle United.
The Magpies are now expected to finalise the necessary formalities before officially announcing the young midfielder as their latest signing.
Diabaté has enjoyed a rapid rise since moving to Gençlerbirliği from Guinean side Académie SOAR in December 2025.
After arriving in Turkey, the teenager initially featured for Gençlerbirliği’s U-19 team, where he quickly made an impression. He made 10 appearances for the youth side before earning a promotion to the senior squad.
Since making the step up, Diabaté has gone on to feature seven times for Gençlerbirliği’s first team, further attracting attention with his performances and potential.
His development has now caught the eye of Newcastle, who are reportedly keen to secure the services of the promising Guinean at an early stage of his career.
The move would represent a significant step forward for Diabaté, giving him the opportunity to continue his development within the Premier League environment and work towards establishing himself at one of England’s top clubs.
