Peter Ambrose swaps Aberdeen for Neuchatel Xamax in Swiss move
Nigeria centre-forward Peter Ambrose has joined Neuchatel Xamax from Aberdeen, bringing his time in Scotland to an end and beginning a new chapter in Switzerland.
The 24-year-old moves to the Challenge League club after spending the previous season with Aberdeen, including a spell on loan at Hungarian side Diosgyor. Ambrose joined Diosgyor from Aberdeen on 3 February 2026 and returned to the Scottish club at the end of June.
He did not feature for Aberdeen in the opening matches of the 2026-27 campaign, recording no appearances in either the Scottish League Cup or the Scottish Premiership before completing his switch to Neuchatel Xamax.
Ambrose joined Aberdeen from Ujpest in July 2024 in a move valued at €300,000. The Nigerian forward had previously played for Ujpest after leaving Turkish club Balikesirspor, where he had progressed from the club’s academy side to senior football.
His move to Neuchatel Xamax takes him into Switzerland’s second tier, with the club competing in the Challenge League. Ambrose’s arrival gives the side a centre-forward who is listed at 1.84m and prefers his right foot.
Born on 10 June 2002, Ambrose began his senior career with Balikesirspor after developing at Balikesir U19. He later moved to Ujpest, where he established the next stage of his career before transferring to Aberdeen.
The striker’s most recent competitive experience came during the 2025-26 season, when he played for Diosgyor on loan. He then returned to Aberdeen before leaving the club for Neuchatel Xamax on 18 August 2026.
Ambrose has now completed his move to Neuchatel Xamax, with the transfer recorded on 18 August 2026.
