Morocco Defender Adam Masina Closes in on Al Shamal Transfer After Torino Exit
Morocco international Adam Masina is reportedly close to ending his spell as a free agent with a move to Qatar Stars League club Al Shamal.
The versatile defender has been without a club since 2 February, when his contract with Torino was officially terminated. According to football insider Youssef, only one final contractual detail needs to be settled before an agreement can be completed.
Al Shamal finished as runners-up in Qatar last season. If the transfer goes through, Masina will join fellow Moroccan Mohamed Hrimat, who moved to the club from AS FAR Rabat in late July.
Masina, 32, would experience a new footballing environment after previously playing in Italy and England. A return to international football could also become possible if he secures regular first-team football.
The defender’s free-agent status reportedly contributed to his omission from Morocco’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in June and July. Masina has won 28 caps for the Atlas Lions but has not played for his country since the end of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
He began that tournament on the bench for Morocco’s first two group matches, before entering the starting XI after Romain Saiss suffered an injury and Jawad El Yamiq struggled against Mali.
Masina started the final and was substituted in the 89th minute, shortly before the match descended into chaos.
