Liverpool steps up interest in PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye
Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, who is considering a summer departure in search of regular first-team football.
The 18-year-old Senegal international has attracted attention from several European clubs, but Liverpool are currently among the most serious contenders.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds want to sign two wingers before the transfer window closes and admire Mbaye’s potential. Liverpool representatives have reportedly spoken with the teenager’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to explore the conditions of a possible transfer.
Mbaye is understood to be attracted by Liverpool’s project and has given an initial indication that he would be willing to join the English champions. However, an agreement remains some distance away because PSG’s valuation is significantly higher than Liverpool’s current position.
Paris Saint-Germain reportedly want at least €50 million for the young attacker. Liverpool are already prepared to spend heavily on Bradley Barcola, with the French winger valued at around €145 million, but they do not want to pay the same amount for Mbaye.
PSG coach Luis Enrique has acknowledged that players who are unhappy should consider other solutions. The coming days will determine whether Mbaye becomes Liverpool’s next attacking addition.
