Guy Bukasa decides to leave Al Hilal in search of first-team head coach role

Guy Bukasa has decided to leave Al Hilal despite the club’s desire for him to remain part of its coaching structure.

The Congolese coach has opted against joining Al Hilal’s new technical team and taking charge of the club’s reserve side, Al Hilal B, as he believes he is ready to take the next step in his career by leading a first team.

Bukasa’s decision comes after a successful spell with Al Hilal, where he made a strong impression with his work on the touchline and guided the Sudanese giants to a third-place finish in the recently concluded Kagame Cup.

Although Al Hilal were keen to retain his services and had presented him with a role within the club’s new coaching set-up, Bukasa has chosen to pursue opportunities that would give him greater responsibility as a head coach.

The coach is understood to be determined to move away from an assistant coaching position and establish himself as the leader of a first-team project.

His third-place finish at the Kagame Cup has further strengthened his reputation and could attract interest from clubs looking for a coach capable of taking charge of a senior side.

Bukasa will now assess his options before deciding on his next destination.

The departure marks the end of his current chapter at Al Hilal, but the coach is expected to remain active in the market as he searches for a new opportunity that matches his ambitions.

For Bukasa, the next move is likely to be an important one as he seeks to make the transition from supporting coaching roles to becoming the head of a first-team project.
