Lille coach David Ancelotti has confirmed that Ayyoub Bouaddi is the subject of transfer negotiations, but says he hopes the highly rated Moroccan midfielder remains at the French club despite interest from Manchester City and other European sides.

Bouaddi’s future has become a major talking point around Lille, with several clubs reportedly monitoring the 18-year-old.

Ancelotti’s comments after Lille’s 1-1 draw with Everton provided the clearest indication yet that discussions over the midfielder are taking place.

The Lille manager was asked about Bouaddi’s situation following the friendly and acknowledged that the player is attracting significant attention.

“Of course, there are negotiations. Many clubs are interested in him ,” Ancelotti acknowledged.

The comments confirm that Bouaddi’s future is being discussed while Lille continue preparing for the new season.

Manchester City remain interested, although Lille do not appear willing to make the midfielder’s departure straightforward.

Ancelotti wants Bouaddi to stay

Despite the transfer speculation, Ancelotti made his own preference clear.

“I hope he will stay with us ,” he added.

The Italian coach’s desire to retain Bouaddi reflects the importance he places on the teenager and his potential.

At only 18, the Moroccan international has already earned the confidence of his manager, who has been impressed not only by his footballing ability but also by his approach away from matches.

Bouaddi’s age makes his development particularly notable.

While still at the beginning of his career, he has already attracted attention from clubs looking for players capable of developing into leading midfielders.

For Ancelotti, however, the midfielder’s current value goes beyond what he produces during matches.

‘Incredibly intelligent’

Ancelotti praised Bouaddi’s maturity and intelligence when discussing the qualities that have impressed him most.

“He is incredibly intelligent, both on and off the pitch, and he shows great maturity ,” explained Ancelotti, before pointing out that Bouaddi appears much older when he plays.

The Lille coach’s assessment highlights why the teenager has become the focus of transfer interest.

Bouaddi’s ability to understand the game and conduct himself with maturity has made a strong impression despite his young age.

Lille therefore face a difficult situation.

The club have a player attracting interest from major European sides, while their coach would prefer to continue working with him.

Lille face decision over Moroccan midfielder

Bouaddi’s future remains uncertain as negotiations continue.

Ancelotti has acknowledged that clubs are interested, but his comments also demonstrate Lille’s desire to retain a player he considers an important part of the team’s plans.

The coach believes Bouaddi still has considerable room for development and could eventually reach the highest level of European football.

The Lille manager is convinced that the young Moroccan possesses the qualities required to become one of the continent’s outstanding midfielders.

That assessment adds further significance to the current negotiations.

While Bouaddi has already attracted attention at 18, Ancelotti believes his best years are still ahead of him.

For now, Lille’s position appears clear: discussions are taking place, but Ancelotti would like Bouaddi to remain in the north of France.

The midfielder’s future will therefore remain a key issue as the transfer discussions continue, with Manchester City and other interested clubs monitoring the situation.

For Ancelotti, the priority is straightforward.

He wants Lille to keep hold of a young player he believes has the intelligence, maturity and potential to develop into one of European football’s leading midfielders.
