CODM Meknes accelerate talks to sign former Raja AC midfielder Mohamed Zerida

CODM Meknes are moving swiftly to secure the signing of Mohamed Zerida, with negotiations for the former Raja AC player reportedly reaching an advanced stage.

The Moroccan club are keen to complete the deal as soon as possible after learning from their recent experience with Younes Najari, who ultimately joined Ittihad Tanger despite holding talks with Meknes.

According to reports, negotiations between Meknes and Zerida have intensified in recent hours, with both parties working towards reaching a final agreement that would see the player join CODM ahead of the new season.

Meknes are determined not to allow another promising deal to slip through their fingers.

The club had previously spent several days negotiating with Najari, only for Ittihad Tanger to move decisively and secure the player’s signature. The experience has reportedly prompted Meknes officials to act faster this time, particularly with Zerida attracting interest from several clubs in the professional league.

As a result, the club’s management is pushing to conclude negotiations with Zerida before rival suitors have the opportunity to intervene.

The midfielder would bring valuable experience to the Meknes squad, having previously featured for Raja AC before moving abroad to continue his career in the Libyan league.

A return to the Moroccan league now appears increasingly likely, with CODM emerging as a strong destination should the remaining details of the agreement be resolved.

Zerida would also become another addition to an increasingly strengthened Meknes squad during the summer transfer window.

The club have already secured the services of experienced goalkeeper Anas Zniti and midfielder Mohamed Mourabit on free transfers following the expiration of their contracts with RS Berkane.

However, Meknes have also seen departures, with left-back Chamseddine Knidil leaving the club to join Raja AC.

Despite the positive progress in negotiations, Zerida’s move to CODM has not yet been officially completed.

Meknes officials are nevertheless determined to move quickly and put the finishing touches to the agreement, with the club hoping to avoid another late disappointment in the transfer market.
