Al-Sekka Al-Hadid bring in Brazilian trio before Egyptian Professional League campaign
Al-Sekka Al-Hadid have completed the signing of three Brazilian forwards – Vitao, Erick Silva and Joao Eshiel – on one-season contracts as they strengthen their squad during the current summer transfer window.
The Egyptian club’s recruitment comes ahead of the new Egyptian Professional League season, the country’s second tier, which begins next Friday. Al-Sekka Al-Hadid will open their campaign against El Tersana.
British journalist Ben Jacobs reported that all three deals had been finalised. The move was led by Ibrahim Nour El-Din, supervisor of Al-Sekka Al-Hadid’s first-team football operation, following negotiations conducted in coordination with Egyptian scout Mustafa Hosny and players’ agent Edson Toninello.
The signings represent an effort by Al-Sekka Al-Hadid to add depth and attacking options before the start of the new campaign. The club are not among Egypt’s two most prominent sides, Al Ahly and Zamalek, but have moved decisively to reinforce their squad for the second-tier season.
The three Brazilian players have already had an opportunity to show their qualities in pre-season. They featured in both of Al-Sekka Al-Hadid’s recent friendly matches, against Kuwaiti side Al Shabab and Proxy, and are reported to have produced impressive performances.
Erick Silva, who is 26, operates as a forward. He played for Brazilian club Parnahyba last season, when he competed with the team in Brazil’s fourth division.
Vitao and Joao Eshiel also join as part of the same attacking recruitment drive, with all three players agreeing contracts running for one season. Their arrivals give Al-Sekka Al-Hadid a Brazilian presence in the forward line before the competitive fixtures begin.
The club’s first league test will come against El Tersana next Friday in the opening round of the Egyptian Professional League. The fixture will provide the first competitive opportunity for the new-look attack after the trio’s appearances in the recent friendlies.
