Roma prepare move for Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie
Destiny Udogie could be heading back to Italy, with Roma reportedly preparing an offer for the Tottenham Hotspur defender.
Serie A transfer specialist Nicolo Schira reports that the 23-year-old has opened the door to a possible move, giving the Giallorossi encouragement as they plan their next step.
Roma are expected to submit an official bid for the Italian left-back during the summer window. The club want more depth on the left side after Angeliño’s loan departure, and Udogie’s energy, athleticism and experience in Serie A make him an appealing target.
Udogie endured a difficult campaign last season, with injuries limiting him to 28 appearances across all competitions. Despite those concerns, Tottenham continue to hold a strong negotiating position because the player’s contract runs until 2030. Any transfer would therefore require Roma to present a proposal capable of satisfying the Premier League club.
The Italian side have already strengthened their defensive options by signing Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid, who is expected to provide cover and quality on the right flank. Adding Udogie would give Roma a similarly dynamic option on the opposite side.
Talks have not yet reached an advanced stage, but the player’s reported willingness could help move negotiations forward in the coming weeks.
