Yankuba Minteh faces three-month Brighton absence

Brighton are expected to lose Yankuba Minteh for up to three months after the winger suffered a right-leg injury during a 3-0 friendly victory over Roma last weekend.

The Athletic reports that the 22-year-old could miss between two and three months, although it remains unclear whether he will require surgery.

The setback is particularly unfortunate for Minteh, who had been preparing for the new Premier League campaign and looking to build on his progress at Brighton. His absence now creates another major selection problem for manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Brighton are already without Kaoru Mitoma, who continues recovering from hamstring surgery. The Japanese winger has not featured during pre-season, and the club has not provided a firm timetable for his return. Hürzeler could therefore begin the campaign without both of his preferred wide players.

Despite the difficult situation, Brighton are not currently planning to sign a direct replacement for Minteh before the transfer window closes. Instead, the club is expected to rely on its existing young options, including Zadok Johanna, Ibrahim Osman, Amario Cozier-Duberry and Nehemiah Oriola.

The injury leaves Brighton short of experience on the wings, but it could give those prospects an important opportunity. Their performances may determine whether the club changes its transfer plans before Minteh returns.
