Ceramica Cleopatra sign ‘goal machine’ Mohamed El Sayed from Kahraba Ismailia

Ceramica Cleopatra have completed the signing of Mohamed El Sayed, known as “Shika”, after the 29-year-old striker left Kahraba Ismailia at the end of last season.

El Sayed’s contract with Kahraba Ismailia expired when the previous campaign concluded, making him available to join Ceramica Cleopatra. The club announced the move by presenting their new forward as a proven goalscorer.

“Another goalscorer joins Ceramica Cleopatra’s battalion… Join us in welcoming the goal machine Mohamed Shika,” the club said in its announcement.

The striker made 38 appearances for Kahraba Ismailia in all competitions last season. He scored 10 goals during that run, including six in the league, three in the League Cup and one in the Egypt Cup.

His record across the campaign was the main feature of the announcement, with Ceramica Cleopatra highlighting his ability to contribute in front of goal as they continue to reshape their squad.

El Sayed has previous experience of playing in the Egyptian league. Before his final spell with Kahraba Ismailia, he represented Petrojet, Tanta, Suez, Eastern Company and El Entag El Harby.

The move to Ceramica Cleopatra represents the latest stage of a career that has included several clubs in Egyptian football. His arrival also adds further attacking competition to a squad that has already undergone a number of changes during the summer.

Ceramica Cleopatra have also brought in Mohamed Alaa, Nejc Gradisar, Peter Korkis, Fawzy El Hannaoui, Mohamed Emad and Khaled El Nabriss during the transfer window.

The club have meanwhile seen Fakhri Lakay, Samuel Amadi, Mohamed Adel, Mohamed Tony and Khaled Abdel Fattah leave the squad.

Ceramica Cleopatra finished last season fourth in the table in the championship group. The club will now look to build on that position with a squad that includes the newly signed El Sayed, whose 10-goal campaign for Kahraba Ismailia has earned him the “goal machine” billing from his new employers.

With six league goals, three in the League Cup and another in the Egypt Cup last season, El Sayed arrives after making a regular contribution across each of the competitions in which he played. His previous experience with Petrojet, Tanta, Suez, Eastern Company, El Entag El Harby and Kahraba Ismailia gives Ceramica Cleopatra another experienced option in attack.

The signing is part of the club’s wider summer recruitment, which has included six other arrivals, while five players have departed. Ceramica Cleopatra’s fourth-place finish in last season’s championship group provides the context for the changes as the team prepares for the next campaign.
