Burkina Faso youngster Latif Ouédraogo joins Rapid on loan from Genoa
Burkina Faso left-back Latif Ouédraogo has joined Romanian club FC Rapid on a season-long loan from Serie A side Genoa.
The 18-year-old defender will spend the campaign in Romania as he looks to gain regular playing time and continue his development at senior level.
Ouédraogo was born in Burkina Faso and has continued his footballing education in Italy, where he has played for Virtus Francavilla and Genoa.
His move to Rapid provides the teenager with an opportunity to take another step in his development after progressing through the Italian football system.
Ouédraogo joined Genoa after previously developing at Virtus Francavilla and went on to make two appearances for the Serie A club.
Those outings gave the young defender experience at one of the highest levels of Italian football, but the decision to move to Romania on loan is aimed at providing him with more opportunities to play.
At Rapid, Ouédraogo will be hoping to establish himself within the squad and make the most of the season-long spell.
The Romanian club offers the Burkina Faso youngster a new environment in which to continue his progress after spending his formative years in Italian football.
For Genoa, the loan move gives their young defender the chance to gain valuable competitive experience away from the club while continuing his development.
Ouédraogo’s immediate objective in Romania will be to secure regular playing time and demonstrate his ability at his new club.
At just 18, the defender has already experienced senior football in Italy, including two Serie A appearances for Genoa. His move to Rapid now gives him the chance to build on that experience.
The season-long agreement means Ouédraogo will remain with Rapid for the duration of the campaign as he looks to become an established member of the Romanian side.
After developing in Italy with Virtus Francavilla and Genoa, the Burkina Faso-born defender is now beginning a new chapter of his career in Romania.
His focus will be on gaining as much playing time as possible and using the loan spell to continue his progression before returning to Genoa.
